Barden raises £1000 for local charities
Two Plymouth-based critical illness charities have been presented with the proceeds of a raffle held by The Barden Corporation during their annual Dinner & Dance Event.
Plymouth, February 16, 2016. A seasonal raffle was held by the Estover-based manufac-turer of super precision ball bearings during their annual Dinner & Dance. The event raised £500 from generous employees on the night and this amount was matched by the company, enabling £500 to be donated to both Macmillan and St Luke’s Hospice.
Both charities provide much-needed care and support to those suffering from difficult conditions and their families. Local Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, Sian Ward-Edwards said; “Huge thanks to everyone at Barden Corporation for raising vital funds for Macmillan. We rely on donations like this to support the growing number of people af-fected by cancer. “
Hayley Dann, St Luke's Head of Fundraising added; "A big thank you from us to Barden for this - without the support of local people and companies we couldn't continue our work to give light to lives when time is short."
Julie Stanton from the Barden Sports & Social Club, who organised the event, held in December at the New Continental Hotel in Plymouth, said; “The Sports & Social club are so grateful for the prizes donated by our suppliers. It’s these fabulous donations which enable us to raise funds for these great charities.”
Prizes included a PS4 play station package from Righton Ltd, a laptop , 3 bottles of champagne & chocolates from MJB Precision Engineering, £ 100 M&S voucher from Pre-Met Ltd, a years family leisure centre membership from the New Continental hotel and dinner for 2 from Holiday Inn.
