Employees from Plymouth ball bearing manufacturer, The Barden Corporation, have raised almost £1700 for Cancer Research UK by completing a 13 mile sponsored walk around the area.
The 35 walkers, comprising of staff and their families, walked a circuit from Plymouth Argaum Rugby Club at Roborough, to Yelverton, Walkhampton, Dousland, Meavy, Clearbrook and back, with one brave fundraiser, Michael Bentley, completing the route in bare feet!
The annual walk was supported by Barden and organised by Pete Duff, a Cell Leader from the company:
"Everyone taking part worked extremely hard to raise this amount of sponsorship. There was a fantastic atmosphere on the day with a lot of laughter along the way. There were also a few sore feet at the end!
He added; "We are delighted to have raised this money for Cancer Research UK. The charity provides invaluable support and care to the patients and families suffering from this serious disease. I want to thank everyone who got involved, sponsored us and supported the event."
The cheque was presented to Sylvia Arlett from Cancer Research UK by Barden Managing Director, Dr Graham Stirling, at the company's factory in Estover.
