Employees from Plymouth ball bearing manufacturer, The Barden Corporation, have raised £2,000 for Devon Air Ambulance by completing a 13 mile sponsored walk around the region.
The walkers, comprising of staff and their families, walked a circuit from Plymouth Argaum Rugby Club at Roborough, to Yelverton, Walkhampton, Dousland, Meavy, Clearbrook and back. Both young and old took part in the event, which was luckily blessed with dry weather!
The annual walk was supported by Barden and organised by Pete Duff, a Cell Leader, and Jeni Rowe, Project Co-ordinator at the company. Pete commented; "It was a great day and everyone involved did an amazing job in raising this amount of sponsorship. We've been doing the walk for several years now and each time the atmosphere and attitudes of the people taking part make it so enjoyable. There are always laughs along the way and some of the walkers turning up in fancy dress gives everyone a chuckle!"
He added; "We are delighted to have raised this money for Devon Air Ambulance. This charity provides invaluable funds to keep the emergency air ambulances flying. The service is essential to the region and saves a lot of lives. I want to thank everyone who got involved, sponsored us and supported the event."
The cheque was presented to Barry and Hazel Nicolas from the charity at the company's factory in Estover.
